New York Times Photo Essay: Where Thousands of Masks a Day are Decontaminated to Battle the Virus

As COVID-19 forced the country into quarantine and decimated the supplies of personal protection equipment at hospitals, Battelle, a research institute in Columbus, Ohio launched a mobile decontamination unit that could decontaminate thousands of masks a day.

I spent several days with the researchers, scientists, and staff at Battle as they decontaminated masks from area hospitals and began building and deploying units across the country.
