Plastic Flowers

This series of images was made during the 2020 COVID-19 quarantine. It explores the complex and often contradictory emotions that being in quarantine invokes. Cheap plastic and silk flowers left over from a previous project are photographed through a suspended opaque sheet causing some of the image to be in focus and other parts to be blurred. The ethereal images contain an unsettling tension - a mix of sadness, surreal beauty, and cheap artificial comfort.
